Last night  at Haworth Old Hall, we celebrated 10 years as a Fairtrade village. We recently received the 3rd renewal certificate from the Fairtrade Foundation.

It’s been a long time and a lot of effort and last night’s presentations reminded us just how much we have achieved but also how much work is yet to be done. The village still has only one fairtrade pub and only a small percentage of the many cafes who could offer fairtrade do so. We know that this is a reflection of the wider world but for those whose lives are saved or improved, however few, it’s worth all the effort.

Hopefully, we have a few more recruits last night and new ideas for the next 10 years.
